Spielberg eyes giant rabbit for 'Harvey' remake
2009-08-03
LOS ANGELES (AFP) - Steven Spielberg has confirmed that his next film as a director will be a remake of "Harvey", the classic 1950 movie starring James Stewart about a man who befriends a giant invisible rabbit. According to reports in Variety and the Hollywood Reporter, Oscar-winner Spielberg is itching to get behind the camera once more after his most recent film, 2008's "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull." The 1950 original "Harvey" starring Stewart in one of his most popular roles was itself adapted on Mary Chase's Pulitzer Prize-winning play. No details of the cast for the film have been confirmed, although Spielberg aims to start production early next year, according to reports. The film will be a joint production shared between 20th Century Fox and Dreamworks studios, reports said.
