The King might be dead, but Prince lives on -- in Vegas
2006-11-04
The King may no longer be a resident of Sin City, but Las Vegas has opened its arms to a new member of rock royalty: Prince. The diminutive singer-songwriter will follow in the footsteps of such household names as Elvis Presley, Elton John and Barry Manilow by beginning a residency in the world's gambling capital, organisers confirmed. Prince, one of the music world's most innovative entertainers and the author of a string of hits through the 1980s and 1990s, will begin twice-weekly performances at the 3121 club in Las Vegas's Rio Hotel on November 10. Entry will be fixed at 125 dollars, organisers said. It is not known how long the 49-year-old rock star's stint as a lounge act will last.
