2006-10-09
U.S. assistant soccer coach Glenn Myernick died on Monday after failing to regain consciousness following a heart attack last Thursday. He was 51. Myernick, a former U.S. captain, won 10 caps as a defender between 1975 and 1979. He had been the U.S. assistant coach since 2002 and was former coach Bruce Arena's right hand man at the past two World Cup finals. "We lost a great person today," said Arena in a statement. "He was an unbelievable husband and father, and the finest soccer person I've ever come across in the United States. He was an amazing resource for soccer in this country." Muzi.com News
