Germany's Commerzbank takes heavy loss, warns of more
FRANKFURT (AFP) - Germany's second biggest bank, Commerzbank, posted a worse-than-expected third-quarter net loss Monday of 1.05 billion euros (1.56 billion dollars) due to group restructuring costs and writedowns.

Commerzbank is first private German bank to ask for cash injection
FRANKFURT - Commerzbank, the second-biggest German bank, took the plunge and said on Monday it would ask the government for 8.2 billion euros (10.5 billion dollars) in cash and 15 billion more in debt guarantees.

Allianz in talks to sell Dresdner Bank
FRANKFURT (AFP) - German insurance giant Allianz is in "advanced talks" on the future of its Dresdner Bank unit, "that may or may not lead to a deal," it said Friday in a brief statement to financial markets.
