A product with "natural" ingredients may be no better for you than one with artificial ingredients, but a lot of us still trust advertisements that suggest as much. Yet ads are often full of dubious scientific claims.

Huge study boosts disappointment on multivitamins
CHICAGO - The largest study ever of multivitamin use in older women found the pills did nothing to prevent common cancers or heart disease. The eight-year study in 161,808 postmenopausal women echoes recent disappointing vitamin studies in men.

Study finds one-third of US kids take vitamins
CHICAGO - About a third of U.S. children and teens take vitamins, even though most of those taking the pills are healthy, active kids who probably don't need them, a new study suggests. Youngsters who could benefit the most from vitamins -- kids in fair or poor health with the worst eating habits -- were the least likely to take them, researchers reported.
